This conversation goes way beyond guns. Listen up young guys......
If you have an overwhelming desire to have kids and work until you are 70, let a girl move in.
If you want to do whatever you want with your day, to have more money than you can spend, to have none of the headaches a family...
It a new policy. This month I traded pistols with a friend. We got the same story. They run all of the checks at the barracks except for the mental health check. You forward the completed/signed packets to Licensing Div after you get the not disapproved letter. We had ours in less than 7...
We just got hit with 2 million in required cuts. Looks like an upcoming class is being cancelled or delayed. The treadmill test isn't too bad. It equates to something like 4.2 mph for ten minutes on a 10% incline without going over 90% max heart rate.
I think the problem may be in the grips. It sounds like you've done all you can with the metal. A wood grip could trap some manner of bacteria or have become saturated with now rancid Ballistol or olive oil (popular on older guns). Or maybe the grips are rubber and it is breaking down.

If it's an 870, I like barrel mounted rifle sights upgraded to ameriglo tritium. The 870 rear has a white triangle under the rear sight notch. It makes a great quick reference bead for close, fast shots. The blades on the rifle sights are nice for long distance work. Tritium is nice for low...
Mopar has some good thoughts. I'd also offer that some PSA receiver extensions are like washboards on the inside. Couple that with a flat wire recoil spring and no grease and you can count on intermittent short stroking with bolt over like in your pictures.
A 6 front would shoot even lower than an 8. The lower the number the lower the bullet strikes. Here are the heights converted from SIG number to 1/1000ths of an inch.
Rear Sight Heights:
#4 = 5.24mm (0.21 inches)
#5 = 5.52mm (0.22 inches)
#6 = 5.80mm (0.23 inches)
#7 = 6.07mm (0.24 inches)...
