      Bambi Whacking 2023-2024

      Curled up and unusable, almost looked like a birth defect. She spooked when I clicked the rifle to full cock. Managed to wait her out until she calmed down. Had a slight hangfire between the pop of the cap and the boom of the powder charge which gave her time to turn.

      Shot a nice doe this morning with a CVA .54 Hawken. Had a lame leg and was hobbling thru the woods. Shot her straight on from the front. Surprised that the ball blew the heart apart and stopped. Was fully expecting to have to clean out a gut shot deer. That make 3 deer in the freezer this year.

      Shooting a rifle standing unsupported (rimfire).

      Jefferson Sportsman's Association's indoor league is starting 1/10/24. Wednesdays, 2-8pm(last relay 7:45) for the next 11 weeks. .22LR, rifle or pistol, scope or iron sights. Shot at 50' offhand, unsupported. Paper target with chicks, pigs, ducks and rams. $4 per gun.

      Converted ATM kiosk. Insulated, waterproof, windproof and secure. I took the air conditioner out of it and use the old mount as a shelf. I can lock it up and leave everything until the next time I go out.

      Shooting a rifle standing unsupported (rimfire).

      Come out for an Appleseed Shoot. 25m rimfire events are a lot of fun. Prone, seated and standing are taught with a sling. Timed AQT targets with a magazine change can be quite humbling.
