      Shot himself in the foot

Haha, I love that. Steering a boat and shooting a bolt-action, 9lb rifle one-handed at some rumrunners. Obviously it didn't spend much (if any) time in the water. I wonder if it got traded for a couple gallons of the good stuff...

Japanese Type 38 carbine bringback from Vietnam

Wow, what a find. So this was likely captured by the Chinese (or the Russians?) and provided to Communist forces in Vietnam? Do you have any plans for trying to contact his family? It would be cool to possibly get more information about him.

      M1903 vs M1917

I have a 1917 that made its way to the Danish Home Guard, who replaced the front sight blade with a thicker post. It's the best shooting rifle I own. The 1917 has so much going for it between the cock-on-close bolt, sights, lockup, safety, capacity... It's up there for me as one of the best...

      Looking for 8mm Mauser ammo

I bought a K98 and would like to put some rounds through it. Any shops have some ammo in stock? I don't need anything fancy. Prvi Patrizan, surplus, whatever.

      Traditions Pennsylvania and Tennessee Carbines

Recently I bought a Traditions Tennessee rifle. I liked the look of a full-stock, carbine lenght rifle and figured it would be light and handy for deer hunting from a climber. A few days later I saw an ad for a rifle that seemed identical, but it's labeled "Pennsylvania" on the barrel. The...

Black powder sales in central MD

I bought Swiss FF black powder from Clyde's a couple weeks ago. Last March I bought FF and FFFF from them as well.

Lets hear some stories. What got you into C&R?

I grew up in the 90s/2000s, so for me what did it was WW2 movies and video games that I was probably too young to be indulging in (but I think I turned out mostly OK). Around then interest in WW2 saw a spike thanks to Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. I watched those and played the Medal...

Preview of my upcoming book on Finnish Mosin-Nagant rifles and other Finnish weaponry

The more I look at the pictures in the book and the pictures that I originally posted, the more I think the stock was swapped. The metal on the original rifle when I owned it was basically "in the white". There looks to be a good amount of bluing on the metal in the photos in the book. A barrel...

Preview of my upcoming book on Finnish Mosin-Nagant rifles and other Finnish weaponry

I'm hoping the serial number listed in the book is just a mistake, and that it was not switched like you said. Though that did cross my mind. I sold this rifle on GunBroker in early 2021.

Preview of my upcoming book on Finnish Mosin-Nagant rifles and other Finnish weaponry

I received my copy today, and while flipping through it was pleasantly surprised to see pictures of a rifle I used to own. Although the serial number noted is different and a stock disc was added, it's definitely the same rifle. Very cool. Page 196: And when I posted about it on this forum...
