I have to wonder about the "components used to produce illegal firearms"? Either it's a firearm or it isn't. Since when were "components" illegal unless they are themselves designated as a firearm (e.g. receiver, suppressor, lightning link/dias)?
It's not really any different than buying a fancy car or truck, more a matter of where your priorities lie and whether you have cash to spend. The biggest difference is that unless the law is changed, your NFA goodies are likely to accumulate value unlike that new truck!
If you get boarded by USCG or NRP they *will* ask about weapons very early in the boarding process. Plan for this ahead of time and respond in the appropriate manner.
You can get an 80% FCU and a jig to finish it yourself. It's not that hard - probably comparable to finishing an AR lower - but definitely a bit more involved and time-consuming than a P80. By far the biggest challenge is finding a Sig caliber x-change kit to pair with it.

I'm kinda intimately familiar with that knife... it has a leaf spring that keeps the blade moving once you thumb it to get it started. It also keeps a pretty good edge and the only time I've had any trouble with it is when sand got in the mechanism and it became "crunchy" and refused to open...
