No mention of the shellacking they got on gun legislation.

Dear serf,
In the political world, our representatives and leaders sometimes earn our respect, and, at other times, our scorn. This year, we are seeing both.
During the General Assembly session that ended this week, Maryland lawmakers did the right thing and created important safeguards for vulnerable citizens. One bill they passed protects victims of lead paint poisoning from being victimized a second time by financial predators who try to buy their legal settlements for a fraction of what they are worth. A second bill makes sure that debt collection companies aren’t doing harm by trying to collect on expired debt or other loans that aren’t owed.
I made these two bills my top priority this session, and they passed with strong bipartisan support. This represents the best of politics: legislators and I identified a problem, and took steps to solve it.
Unfortunately, we have also been seeing, in recent weeks, things at their worst. The divisiveness and anger unfolding in the Republican presidential primary is repellent. It should be a sharp reminder, that elections have consequences.
We must make the selections we know will lead to progress. We must reject the name calling and insults.
We have an opportunity in races for U.S. Representative, Senate and, of course, President to elect leaders who will bring us together. Whomever you support, remember that early voting begins this week -- Thursday, April 14th, and runs through Thursday, April 21. Poll locations are open at 10 a.m., and you can find more information about early voting, including a link to find a location near you, by clicking here. Election day,if you have not voted earlier, is April 26th.
We have a responsibility to vote and to send a message with our vote that we value civility, progress, respect. We have a responsibility to make sure that the people we elect are willing to work to get things done not just score points. Let’s exercise our power to get the people we need to make sure our political discourse is productive and healthy.
Let’s make sure that the future is bright. And more than anything, let’s make sure we get this right.
Warm Regards,
