Anyone know if Chesapeake Laser Engraving is still around? No luck getting them on the phone, and the website has disappeared.

    Thanks.

Let us know who/what you end up going with. I have a lower that needs done too.

No luck so far finding laser engraving. Right now I'm leaning towards finally rigging up a CNC conversion for my mini mill and doing the engraving myself.

MDS member TwinsDad was offering mobil engraving services but I haven't seen him post in awhile.

Tried contacting him last year and he never responded. Going to assume he is no longer offering that service.

If that Pasadena place does NFA engraving while you wait, that would be awesome. They are under 10 mins from me.

Sorry, I was never able to get in touch with them. Ordered parts to CNC my mini mill, so I'm going to do my own. Figure with the NFA stuff I still need to engrave it will pay for itself.

Mandrel Bending Solutions aka Chesapeake Laser said their laser is down right now. But yes, they still do AR-15 lower engraving.

I will call them back in about 1 week to see if it is fixed.

I called MBS today and a lady said they could not fix laser and it has been broken for a while. The guy I talked to last week was much more optimistic about the whole deal.

From Southern Maryland I am 86 miles to Engage. 114 to Duffys. What other options are there?

That stinks. I can't think of any other options off the top of my head.

I emailed 3 or 4 places in NoVA, all within a 2 hour drive. Most will setup appointments and charge $80-90 per lower.

Engage required a drop off and 2 week wait.

Ident works out to probably $65 once you ship a lower to them. I might just do that, although I hate sending out lowers.

After going back and forth on this I decided to ship my lower out of state for laser engraving. I found a place called Tar Heel State Firearms. They charge $30 to laser engrave your lower - they were even able to do it inside the trigger guard with the lower fully assembled.

Here's an example from their website:

I'll update when I receive my lower back - so far, I'm impressed. It arrived on Saturday and I received an order update yesterday (Sunday) with a personal message saying it was complete and would be back in the mail (I included a return postage label) today (Monday).

Lasers do some amazing things. I'm trying to get one so we can do engraving in-house.

I did Ident. All in all it was $70 or so, I bought insurance for shipping my lower. Turned out fine, but I will check out Tarheel for my next one.

Worth a Shot mentioned getting an engraver about two weeks ago, check with them.

Not sure if Laser or not, I like the trigger area engraving.

Are the lasers getting more powerful? Few years ago when I was doing a few lowers I was told the lasers could not get to the required depth.

There's several lasers which can make the required depth; they're not your run of the mill lasers cost a lot more, of course.

I saw this on this pic on the Tar Heel webpage. I wonder if they can do this around the Noveske Logo? Yeah, its a little flashy but what the hell.

Eitherway, looks like they do good work for $30.

EDIT: I just called, they said sure they can do round engraving for $30.
