Out of state dealers and SB-281? :mad54:I was at my favorite "out of State shop" (not to be mentioned). I have been a long time customer and the owner knows me. He was in when I arrived. After our usual greetings, he pulled me aside and said the he would no longer be able to sell to me (being a MD resident). I laughed thinking that it was a joke. It was not. I was very surprised and a little hurt. He explained that MSP and ATF had directed him not to sell to MD residents due to FSA-2013. No rifles, no mags over 10 rds. He said that he would transfer handguns though. I asked if he had got into any legal trouble, thinking maybe this was a condition. He said no, but offered no further explanation.:mad54:
Is there an effort by either to intimidate border States gun shops to not sell to us? Has there been some change in the law?

I also have a friend who is co-owner of a shop (Let's say in PA), he told me that MD was making it know to nearby FFLs that MD would be aggressively seeking prosecution against anyone violating MD's FSA. He's not intimidated, but understands how some others might not want to deal with MD's BS.

Agreed. I would blast this all over the place...NRA, NSSF, SAF, even Fox News...

This is yet another example of a government entity out of control. And it will further illustrate to those 2A supporters living in Free America how easy it has become for freedom to be trampled upon, yet again.

MD doesn't have a goddamn thing to say about what goes on outside their borders. This needs to plastered all over the place.:mad54:

Both intimidation by MSP/ATF and stupidity on the part of out-of-state dealers.

The farther you get away from the DC-Baltimore corridor, the more likely you will find a willing dealer who will go by the 'anything but a handgun' Federal law.

I have no problem buying magazines in Pennsylvania or Virginia. Also, while Cheaper Than Dirt will not ship a lot of stuff to Maryland, Bud's Guns has no problem.

Tin foil hat on :tinfoil: Dealer in PA wouldn't sell me an M1 9mm carbine but was willing to transfer it for me to a MD FFL. I could have walked out the door with the Henry I also looked at. Tin foil hat off :tinfoil:

No mention of a letter I saw...

I would doubt that MSP would be so dumb as to put it in writing, and if ATF is involved they have no grounds that I can think of.

Owemally's elite going outta' state (in person) to inform outta' state dealers of bogus ********, I don't think so but wouldn't be surprised if it were true; a phone call by MSP on the other hand would make more sense, again if true.

The only way ATF would be involved, and I suspect they are, is to inform the outta' state dealers they BETTER KNOW the MD laws before selling to a MD resident because if the outta' state dealer doesn't know the MD laws, things could get pretty ugly for that dealer if said dealer makes an ILLEGAL sale to a MD resident. Remember the AR15 HBAR incidents (at least two of them I can remember) last year, VA dealer selling to MD resident a MD legal AR15 HBAR on a 4473 and Instant Check (by the way was LEGAL then and is STILL LEGAL NOW)??? MSP showing up at the purchaser's door at 6:00 AM and checking the AR15 HBAR (by MD law was and still is NON-regulated) in question and damned near forcing/strong arming the purchaser to "REGISTER" that NON-regulated AR15 HBAR as a REGULATED firearm. Apparently it was ATF that informed MSP of those transactions.

Again ATF, they don't have grounds going around and telling dealers outside of MD to not sell/transfer regular capacity mags to MD residents, especially if they're claiming it's illegal, and if ATF is doing this, they are, at a minimum, OVERSTEPPING their bounds, and with the possibility of telling outright lies. Yes, I'd like to get my hands on any correspondence/directive on any agency letterhead (MSP and/or ATF) related to this post/subject matter. If anybody has such correspondence, be that person/dealer in state or out of state, please forward said correspondence to me. PM me first and I'll give the information as to how and where to send said information. Thanks.

EDIT: I see we have a few "guests" in the house............I see youuuuuuuuuuuu.

So the MDSP don't have a clue on the legality of moving a non-HBAR upper on a stripped lower sold prior to October 1, 2013, but they feel it important to "advise" border state FFLs to not legally sell non-banned long guns to MD residents. If there were accountability in this state, some folks should be fired.
