It seems to me that Sigs, specifically the P22X series is the current standard by which everything else is compared - if you've got the cash to pay the premium, you'll most likely come away with a pistol you are very happy with.

I like Sigs. Between my wife and I, we have a few. All work well.

I would not hesitate to buy another or even several more. And to carry one for personal protection or have it around the house for home defense.

They are like the Mercedes of firearms. The Glock is a Kia. :)

Sorry, Pinecone. You need to go to the bathroom. Don't forget to wipe.

Sig(s) are nice guns, no doubt. However, they are NOT the 'be all-end all" pistol.

Sig(s) don't fit my hands. I've shot several. I even tried to buy my 'so-called' son in law's Sig, when he needed some $$$ to pay some bills.
That Sig P229 would have sat in my safe, until he had the $$$ to buy it back.

Your analogy is funny, but completely incorrect. Glock(s) are less expensive than Sig(s) and that's about all.
They darned sure aren't consider Kia(s), at all. Try again. :D

I never get the car analogies for gun brand koolaide swillage justifications. There just isn't that big a difference between a Glock and a SIG when it comes down to it. KIA v. Mercedes. Pfffft. Maybe Toyota Camry v. Honda Accord.

Nope. People pretty much go straight to a Glock comparison.

That is a bit harsh. ;)
Glocks are the blue collar work horse of firearms.

Kia is a not fancy, not high end vehicle that just plain works.

Personally I would buy a Kia over a Honda or Toyota or Nissan. :)

I could have said something was a Yugo. :)

And Mercedes are not the be all-end all car either. They are high end, expensive cars. That work well.

And Mercedes seats don't fit all butts either. Some people fit a Toyota or Kia better.

Kias are not bad cars, they do what a car is supposed to do, without fuss or bother. And are reasonably inexpensive.

Talk about some fan boi's in here.

Sigs are heavy weapons. Sigs have a high bore axis. The DA/SA has it's disadvantages. The guns are expensive. They typically don't do anything that others guns wont do (they all fire a projectile). They are typically wider and taller then comparable guns.

I have two Sigs and I like one of them. My 229 Elite Enhanced is one fine firearm for what it is. It's a PITA to conceal and the E2 grips rub your skin something awful. It's not ambi which is a flaw to me. It is built rather well and if I wasn't conceal carrying it I would gladly have one.

I do plan on getting a 229 in .357 Sig in the next year or so.

But they aren't be all end all of firearms. Some of you folks are worst then the 1911 crowd haha.

I'll second this. I have 4 Sigs (all 9mm). The only one I have that has the E2 Grips is my P224, so this was new to me. I'm now on the hunt for other grips for it.

I love all my Sigs, but my favorite by a smidge is my P229. It's large enough to get a nice full grip but small enough to conceal easily.

When I first got my mk25 I hated it. Felt like I couldn't hit anything with it. Then I read about the front sight and my grouping improved much much better. I hated the grips. Felt they were to bulky for my hands(had to readjust my grip after every shot) and hated with a passion the long reset of the trigger. I got fustrated. I ordered a SRT trigger and after market G10 grips. Wow what an improvement that made. Now its easily my favorite handgun. So for me , yea I wasnt very happy at first with what it was but im very happy with it now.

I actually went back through and I didn't see anyone say they were the end all be all. We just love our guns. I love my Glocks, 1911s, Sigs, Hk's, ARs, AKs, Garands, Bolt guns, shotguns, black powders, etc. I will talk about how much I love all of them. I have no idea who pissed in your cheerios but if you continually walk through life with the same all knowing black cloud of negativity you seem to here, you are in for a heart attack at a young age. Lighten up.

Oh and opinions are always to be taken with a grain of salt because after all they are just individual opinions. Sorry they make you upset! Have fun, go get a beer and watch some good tv. Smile. Life is good.

So when its all said and done you could have bought a giant flatscreen tv, ordered the NFL red zone package, gotten a lazy boy, and a couple "ok" hookers all for the price of one good pistol. I'll just buy 9 glocks :)

For the record I'm glad you found a SD tool you love. I'm just being a butthole for the sake of fun.

It cracks me up when people go on and on about buying this gun vs that.

Your Gun was the right gun for you at the time. Beyond reliability barriers it is all preference. Most people who talk about personalizing their handguns are full of shit.

Out of all guns out there the most upgrades I see done are on 1911's. Most other handguns have little more than grips and a flashlight. That's great and all but...

If your very expensive gun is so great, why does it need upgrades? Wouldn't it make sense to spend money on a gun that comes the way you want it rather than to spend a grand for which you will change out half the parts ?

Everyone can tell when you are joking because you actually have a sense of humor. It's the few who take it personally that crack me up. That and the fact that you ride a unicorn and work in Dupont Circle............... Someone post a dancing banana for me!
