Hi! As my name suggests, I am a complete newbie to guns and gun ownership. I was looking for a new hobby and stumbled across PG County Trap and Skeet - took the Learn to Shoot class and am hooked! It was a little intimidating - being the only woman in the class (and it looked like the only woman in the club!) but am taking the Skeet class next week and the NRA Shotgun class the week after. Looking to buy my first ever shotgun - Gun Connection has a great reputation and I have been slightly obsessed looking online for a "deal." Anyway - the site has been very informative so far and a great bunch around here.

Welcome from yet another Bowie resident.
Just want to mention two things, there is a private gun club with a damn nice range IN Bowie, and the other is that a C&R FFL is something you should consider getting to build your gun collection affordably.

    Welcome to the forum!
I like PG trap & skeet, I got introduced to shotguns there as well
Novus is right, http://www.berwyn.org/ is a good club, in Bowie. Post up if you want to visit, and we'll set something up. There are several of us here that belong.

I don't know what Berwyn's plans for it's trap range are long-term, but for the last couple of years they have been meeting at the PG range for shotgunning.

I think they're more focused on getting the current stuff paid off, then later getting the 200 yard working again.

Yes, but I'm talking about the trap range. I know there was little turn out on the weekends for it but I don't know if that's why it hasn't been used. I also know they did some kind of survey of it so maybe it's more lead abatement. Not that that was ever really a problem there, they are just trying to adhere to EPA mandates.

Been a while, but a few years ago they had plans to stop using the trap range on a regular basis (Saturdays) and I think just plan on using it for special events. They figured PG was such a better facility for trap and it was so close, and that it was hard to find a volunteer to man the machine on Saturday mornings that they figured it was better to just go with PG.
However my information is a few years out of date and things may have changed.

By the way, it was not the lead that led to this decision because they went steel shot/lead free only for trap from the moment they reopened.
