I recently came into possession of an original 26" cylinder bore barrel with adjustment collar. I would like to use this barrel, but it is currently too tight to fit my receiver. I tried adjusting the barrel myself but 100+ years of use has left it seized. Are there any tricks to free the barrel from the collar withou causing damage?

I wouldn't use a torch but have you considered using a heat gun ?

I considered a propane one used very sparingly, but I decided against it. However, an electric heat gun is a good idea (gives me an excuse to get more tools too :D). Thanks!
