Been too wet, too busy and too cold for my old bones. Boat "might" get put back in the slip next week..but with Marina gas 70 cents a gallon more than at the pump I won't be heading out every afternoon like years past. And I have a small boat..Some of the boats in my marina will probably remain high and dry this year...can you imagine filling a 300 gallon tank on a large boat and only getting a fraction of a mile to the gallon?

I am with the group that has been out a few times and got skunked, not even a bite
Same here been out a few times and so far and no luck. Just fishing ponds at this point haven’t had the kayak out for any lake or river fishing yet. I don’t usually have much luck when the Largemouth are spawning, saw a couple working beds last Friday.

Fished the gunpowder today south of the sparks road bridge. Pulled in a couple of small rainbows, most likely recently stocked. Water levels are good but still cold. This warm weather should help some if it holds.

Hit the local lake today after kids got home from school. Caught a few crappie and some smaller bass but the big suprise was hooking up with a couple big golden shiners. Ive never caught one on rod and reel before usually its a cast net.

Russ, your dad's living the dream of many a man! Many people wait too long and then realize they can't do what they used to do when they were young. cudos to him.

Sending my son #2 and his girlfriends dad & brother on a charter in OC tomorrow. Hoping to get some good pics. He will be paying more attention to the first mate and trying to help the other kid once he gets his catch (he's an excellent angler skillwise)

Son#2 wants to work on fishing charters or a Marina this summer out in OC. I tried to get him out there as a waiter last year to rake in the cash but did not want to leave girlfriend. Now that Girlfriend has a job out there waiting for her, its on!
only problem is he may not have much time to fish with me. If he does not at least I'll get good intel as knowledge is everything out there.

I spent the day out there de winterizing the 2 boats. Everything was good till I was installing a new sonar in the pontoon and found the cable was 6' too short so ordered an extension and will be back Sat. If all goes well, the Center console will be in the water Saturday and may fish Sat evening or Sunday.

Throw back Striped bass and one keeper Tautog. OC Inlet. This is my son's Girlfirend's brother's friend :)

He sure is, I get out with him as much as I can, but man does he outifsh me almost every time. I did the charter gig when I was younger and I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything. From the monster shark tournaments to the WMO, and all of the tuna, marlin, sailfish, wahoo, and drum. Chased big stripers and trout around the bay when they were here in numbers. Now I'm just chasing bass when I get free time.

Pfft...snakeheads deserve no mercy. They're decimating the native species. I say we should nuke the site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.
??? Do you have studies to show this,, I am quite active in the "Snakehead community" and none of the fears came true.

Let alone what its doing to the frog population
Admittedly I am new to snakehead fishing but everything I'm reading says that rubber frogs are among the most preferred bait. I imagine that the local frog populations are under stress.

All I care about is that snakeheads are plentiful, easy to catch because they are so aggressive, acceptable tasting, and the DNR doesn't give a damn how many you take. It sounds like the perfect fish for amateurs who are just looking for food.
