Where can I buy “cheap” firewood

Some 20 years ago, I'd go into Lake Needwood and delimb and buck downed oak trees. Got scolded one day and told Karen to fvck off. Park Police came and very cordially asked me to cease and desist. Was great while it lasted...

Maybe I'm missing something. But given the realities of frequent drought conditions, frequent wildfires, and the problems associated with forest floors when allowed to become tinder boxes? One would think that park rangers would welcome the cutting of designated and specified deadfall areas, as part of a forest management strategy. "You cut, you haul" seems like it would be a win win for everyone involved. But what do I know?

I’ve never been scolded for collecting deadwood, been thanked by rangers for collecting so much of it for your aforementioned reasons. Then again, they keep a sharp eye for anyone cutting live wood.

I used to camp at Warrior Mountain and often wondered if that would be legal.
