What would you want to get if and when Assault Weapon Ban dies?

I had other bigger wants on my list and only so much money to go around. My final pre-ban funds went into an SGL-31 and a Polish AKMS build.

I went with the PTR. I think I got the rifle, 20 aluminum mags and 10 steel mags for under $1000.

Remember for a while a few years ago there seemed to be a very deliberate effort to poo-poo the M1A as being inferior to the AR in every way imaginable? Not as accurate, not reliable (especially in dirty environments), too heavy, weird cellulose fiber stock, etc.

Does anybody else remember that trend?

I'm thankful for the M14. It sucked so bad it had to be replaced. The AR was on deck and ready to step up to the plate.

Had the FAL been adopted by the US Military, the AR may have died before it was recognized.
