The wife had me buy a 3500 watt inverter generator today. I am not really sure why but I figured it wasn’t worth asking why

Some USS Constitution Rum bottled by The Tobacco Barn Distillery. This way when the SHTF I will be happy and won't care.

It's a lot more efficient to just run a fan directly off the battery, rather than laundering it through an inverter. Since I've got lots of 20V and 60V Dewalt tools, this fan was a no-brainer. Runs all night and then some on the same battery I'd use for a leaf blower. There are two versions. A slightly more expensive one has an AC port on it for using it with grid power, too.

I have the Milwaukee M18 version of this, and used it to dry spilled water in the back of an SUV. On a new 5ah non high-output battery, it ran for 13 hours and still had one bar of juice left.

Fed ex just delivered a 10x8 greenhouse. Nothing special just one of the "tent" types but should be enough to grow things like kale and spinach most the winter.

    Cool

Then we got two acres of kale growing lol

And a spot about 100x100 of turnips and two smaller fields of assorted green and for some reason two acres of deer greens to feed the cockroaches, I mean deer

And by the way, I love kale

I waited too long to plant kale, may throw some seed down this week as a hope and prayer. My family devours it.

Generally getting it from n by sept 15th is best but the old folks always said plant any crop before All Hallows’ Eve and your chances are good for getting a crop

Just use plenty of fertilizer. At least 50 lbs of nitrogen per acre, figured the right way

    Good luck

    If a box fan draws 80W of power, at 18V that's 4.44A (80W x 18V = 4.44A) then the batteries will last around:

    2Ah battery - about 1/2 hour
    4Ah battery - about 1 hour
    6Ah battery - about 1 1/2 hours
    8Ah battery - about 2 hours

I have a decent amount of batteries because each time I get a tool, I try to get it on sale with a free battery. This would also be useful in charging phones and smaller items.
Don’t forget to factor that at 80%. You’ve got inefficiencies in the DC-AC inverter and voltage step up

Put the meat grinder to task this weekend, making sausage, ground jerky, and "bacon" from last year's venison harvest from the freezer. Followed the Bearded Butchers' venison bacon recipe/method as best I could, and produced a loaf that I sliced up this evening. Hit 160F with the probe thermometer after baking (was raining outside) for about 5 hours at 175F. Ran it for another hour at 150F just to be sure - might have over-done it a little, but there's about 45% pork butt in the mix. It's a little brittle, buuuttt ....

    Took it for a test-fry.

    Oh. My. God.

That is absolutely fantastic. Has the mouth feel of scrapple, with a pork-bacon flavor finish. Tested it on Jr, and he gave it an unconditional "Damn, that's great!" Will taste-test with The Wife when she gets home this evening ... she's the acid test.

You could eat it raw, but why would you? Might have to make a VLT sammich out of this.

Did a ton of yard clean-up and winterizing today. Winterized the boat, and exercised two generators. Used the last of my fuel supply, so re-filled/stabilized 10gal diesel and 35gal gas. Also got two empty propane tanks swapped out while I was at it.
