    5. Help needed, VCDL table at Newport News Fall Festival, 10/1-10/2

VCDL is working on expanding our contact with the public. Part of that is "Other-Than-Gun-Show" events, where we're not preaching to the choir. These events are fun, and give us the opportunity to talk to people who may never go to gun shows.

Help is needed at our booth at the 47th Annual Newport News Fall Festival. This event attracts 35,000 visitors each year and features exhibitors showcasing arts, crafts, heritage trade demonstrations, entertainment, children's activities and food.

This is an opportunity to speak with many in the community we may not otherwise reach prior to the upcoming elections. Our main goal will be conversations, handing out VCDL literature, GSL stickers, and encouraging sign ups to the VCDL mailing list. We will not be seling VCDL gear or memberships at this event, it's all about getting the word out!

To volunteer, contact Bryan Dunn at gunshows.hampton@vcdl.org

    6. Register to be an Election Officer - Loudoun County, elsewhere

An election officer serves on Election Day. One day out of the year understanding it is a long day but such an eye opening experience into our USA voting system. A privilege actually to add integrity to our elections and it is easy.

The Registrar’s office has informed the LCRC that they need 150 more Election Officers for the 11/8 election. On 9/20/22 they will begin to assign the non-partisan election officers.

Please follow these instructions to apply online today. Approval takes time so please apply right away.

    1. Go to vote4loudoun.com/pollaccess/.
    2. Indicate the party you want to serve for.
    3. Indicate that you will serve in any precinct so that the registrar’s office will assign you.
    4. Indicate that you will serve all day, if possible. (Greatest need)
    5. One training class provided by Loudoun County will be required. It is easy.
    6. You will have a portal where your training and precinct assignment will need to be accepted.

    Dana Walker
    LCRC -EIC-Election Officer Recruitment
Loudoun is not the only locality that will be needing Election Officers. Please check with your Registrar's office to find out how you can participate.

    7. WSJ Article: Firing Back at Jim Crow

We've known all along that gun control is racist. Now the main stream media is catching on. The Wall Street Journal recently published an article, "Firing Back At Jim Crow, A new study shows how guns helped blacks against lynch mobs." Member John F. sent the link, and a PDF for those who want to bypass the WSJ paywall.
