No matter how I tried it, I could not get two quote/replies to show.

As far as I know, you have to hit +Quote and Reply for each post. The difference is hitting Reply for both.

I thought I tried everything. Thanks(I think I still hold the record for the longest multi-quote since the new system began).

Not sure how that works, but what works for me is to click +Quote for each post you want to quote, go to the Reply area at the bottom of thread, and click 'Insert Quotes'.

This, but I've found that it likes to put the reply post first and the quoted posts after that. I just did one and quoted the later post and hit reply to the earlier post and it put them into the correct order. Go figure.

I needed to quote the last post in a thread, then go back 2 pages and post a pre-emptive reply.

I think you're right, a packing peanut is probably a poor choice. My concern with tissue is that it would break down and foul the mag. I guess packing peanuts would do the same thing. How about 2 or 3 folded up cleaning patches? I'm sure you have a few of those lying around. :)
