I have a .54 barrel that I wanted sleeved to .50 so my wife and I took a trip up to Fort Chambers yesterday with an intermediate stop at Bobby Hoyt's house in Fairfield, PA. It saved me shipping charges and gave me an excuse to buy some more BP stuff.
If you want flintlocks, that was all that was on the racks at Fort Chambers. Some custom made, some Pedersoli, Dixie and Traditions.
Powder is $25 a pound for Goex and $26 a pound for Swiss. I know you can get it cheaper at the Back Creek Gun Store but I was only buy a pound anyway. They had loads of soft lead at $1.50 a pound and plenty of possible bags and gun parts.
My wife was pretty amazed that I took back roads from Davidsonville and return and never hit 70, 81, 50 etc. It was a nice day for a ride and we also stopped at HGR (Hagerstown Airport) for lunch at the The Grille at Runways. Good food and not too expensive.
Next time, I'll plan for a trip out to Winchester and stop over at Taylor's gunshop.
You know, this being retired stuff can grow on you.
