I'm catching up on this thread for the first time and the OP's original post was wonderful to read. It is how our ancestors figured out the seasons thousands of years ago. I hope j8064 is well.

As I've grown older, I find that the cold winters bother me more than they did when I was younger. That's why I plan to retire in Florida!

That's the plan I am working on.

    Welcome to the club! :-)

Whereabouts in FL do you want to retire? I've got a house in Parkland (yes, the infamous Parkland where the school shooting occurred) which is about an hour North of Miami and not too far North of Fort Lauderdale. That's in the general area where my family lives.

I'm looking between St. Augustine and Daytona.

My goal is FL. yeah it's hot in the summer, but I'm a water (pool and ocean) junkie, so I won't mind. However the wife....*sigh*. Farthest north I'll stay is NC...at least that state has my favorite dive sites.

That's assuming my retirement accounts don't keep losing money. Right now it's looking like the only way I will be able to retire is to drop dead. Doh!

As I get older , hot humidity bothers me than it did .

    My future criteria include :

    Four distinct seasons
Less snow shovelling than Maryland .

As much as I like this thread, I don't like to see it pop up. :sad53:

I was thinking about this thread last week. I’m in the camp that loves colder weather. I’m glad it popped back up.

I really enjoy being outside in the fall and on mild winter days.

Actually in hindsight this summer has been quite mild in terms if overall heat and humidity.

I pulled the firewood wagon up to the house this eve and it reminded me of this thread.
