That's the plan I am working on.I'm catching up on this thread for the first time and the OP's original post was wonderful to read. It is how our ancestors figured out the seasons thousands of years ago. I hope j8064 is well.
As I've grown older, I find that the cold winters bother me more than they did when I was younger. That's why I plan to retire in Florida!

Welcome to the club! :-)That's the plan I am working on.
I'm looking between St. Augustine and Daytona.Welcome to the club! :-)
Whereabouts in FL do you want to retire? I've got a house in Parkland (yes, the infamous Parkland where the school shooting occurred) which is about an hour North of Miami and not too far North of Fort Lauderdale. That's in the general area where my family lives.

I was out that way last week in Frostburg and thought about it. But alas, I had a truck full of dorm stuff and the wife. This reminds me, I need to get out west and visit our brothers.

As I get older , hot humidity bothers me than it did .
My future criteria include :
Four distinct seasons
Less snow shovelling than Maryland .
As much as I like fall, I hate waking up to dark mornings knowing that it will soon be getting colder.
Buy an expensive snow blower, that way you KNOW it won't snow much.
As much as I like this thread, I don't like to see it pop up.![]()
You just jinxed us for Sept.I was thinking about this thread last week. I’m in the camp that loves colder weather. I’m glad it popped back up.
I really enjoy being outside in the fall and on mild winter days.
Actually in hindsight this summer has been quite mild in terms if overall heat and humidity.

I love that. Very relaxing. The fact that I get up well before dawn probably plays a role here.This. And darkness by 4:30pm.
We had a house in Clearwater, humid gulf coast, and the in-laws lived in Daytona Beach, fresh cool ocean breeze. Prefer the space coast but I was stationed at MacDill AFB.I'm looking between St. Augustine and Daytona.
I've made that trip at least 4 times(WVU).I was out that way last week in Frostburg and thought about it. But alas, I had a truck full of dorm stuff and the wife.
Nice. I too prefer the Atlantic Coast to the Gulf Coast.I'm looking between St. Augustine and Daytona.
I’m typically burning the candle at both ends that time of yearI love that. Very relaxing. The fact that I get up well before dawn probably plays a role here.
