Talk me out of a P365....

I have both the Hellcat and the P365 because I couldn't decide between the two. I think the Hellcat's sights are much better than the P365's, but the P365 has many more aftermarket options/accessories (in my opinion). I'm not sure about the G43.

Agree on the sites. I've got old dude eyes and needed something more prominent. Swapped for TruGlo and added the rubbery Talon grips. Perfect EDC.

I haven't read the entire thread, but i'll just say the G43X with 15 round mags makes it pretty much a no brainer.

Not quite sure I'd call it a no-brainer. The 15 round Shield mags seem to be "hit or miss" in reliability if you do a simple search via online forums.

Personally, I don't trust them for EDC. But if I can't stop a threat with 10 rounds, well, then I probably shouldn't be carrying.

It ultimately depends on the body of the person and what they feel comfortable carrying. Bigger guns while they may conceal fine I think people feel they are always printing or it is too bulky. I have the P320 M17 and have been thinking about picking up a P320 M18 as well. slightly shorter OAL than the M17.

I built a custom P365 hybrid. A custom compd XL slide from Fedzworx and a Wilson p365 grip with larger pinky extensions on the mags. Also a holosun 407c and a TLR 7 sub light. Paired with Sig hollow points it’s a pretty sweet carry weapon.

Any reason you went with a 407c instead of a 407k? Right now I'm going back and forth in my head between saving some money and going with a green 407k for my 43x mos and a green holosun EPS carry. The EPS is effectively the enclosed emitter version of the 407. I've noticed some lint gathering on my 407c on my current carry gun. It's not a big deal to just wipe off from time to time, but it's easier to wipe the back lens of an enclosed emitter variant than trying to scoop inside an open emitter version. There's also no chance of debris(such as mud/blood/whatever) blocking the actual path of the beam to the lens on an enclosed emitter, so because of that I'm leaning towards the EPS... although the two panes of glass does make the target darker and increases some fisheye distortion over the open emitter versions.

Terps, my 2 cents worth. Keeping in mind that the last and only time I shot the P365 was when it first came out.

First and most important, I want a carry gun that is 100% factory stock. I don't want to do (or HAVE TO do) anything to it. The P365 platform is nothing but a big Lego set, and I don't have the interest to fiddle with it. I want to feed a gun and shoot a gun, that is it. (cleaning notwithstanding)

Second, I do not like the grip on the P365, and this made the decision very easy to NOT get one. The backstrap ends right in the middle (okay, middle of the lower half) of my hand. I just cannot stand that, and that is for ME personally and all I am speaking about. Yeah, yeah, extended mags, blah blah, now we're into Legoland again, not interested, and the extended mags that were available at the time were better for the pinky, but not for the backstrap.

Third, when I shot all the guns I was considering, I shot the P365 the "least best" of them all, and they had not ventured into Legoland yet. (Okay, I sucked with it, I was all over the place). I ended up getting (at the time) a Walther PPS M2 with 8 round mags (that I have carried in America) for half the price of the P365.

My newest acquisition (that I got out of bondage yesterday) is the Hellcat Pro. Flush mags and all and fits excellent in my own personal hand.

Now...all that said, on my way out of the door with my new Hellcat, the shop owner says, "Here, try this one out" and hands me a P365X Macro. (He knew exactly what he was doing). Oh my! Fits my hand very well, I liked it. Other than the fact that the slide is ugly as dog f**k. (Yeah...change the slide...blah blah, Lego again)

I really wouldn't want to talk anyone out of buying an excellent platform such as the P365, but sometimes it talks people out of it by itself. My buddy went with me to the gun shop yesterday and he is a complete newbie to handguns (not shooting, just handguns). I offered no "pre-visit" opinions because I like people to decide for themselves. When he gripped a P365 (and 365XL) he couldn't get it out of his hands fast enough. He hated the grip. He loved (and is buying) the P365X Macro though. I'm not telling him about Lego sets, he'll figure out that on his own knowing him.

Hope the opinion is worthy of thought, if not it just killed some time while folks wait for their new freedom card.

Maybe this will help....... I work part time at an indoor range that rents the Sig P365 series of striker fired pistols..... they all have been sent back to Sig for breaking..... this time around it is the 365X & 365XL and a X5 Legion 320 all with dead triggers and it was not a broken trigger spring.

Never had to send a G43/43X/48 or a S&W shield back for breaking..... they have not even had an issue

I work part time at an indoor range that rents the Sig P365 series of striker fired pistols..... they all have been sent back to Sig for breaking..... this time around it is the 365X & 365XL and a X5 Legion 320 all with dead triggers and it was not a broken trigger spring.

The interchangeability is amazing on the P365. I started with a standard version, then discovered the XL grip frames, and most recently picked up an XL Barrel/Slide combo which now with just one FCU can create all 3 versions of the P365 as well as one which doesn’t exist by itself (XL long slide/standard short grip). Soon when it’s on the market I’ll add the Macro grip frame and 17rd mags and basically have 5 different P365 formats in one. Beyond that in all configurations it’s an outstanding shooter and has never had a failure in thousands of rounds fired.

First I've heard of this being a problem... Especially if all of them have been sent back.

I have seen comments about the early version of the P365 breaking firing pins and having a few other chronic failures, but this was supposedly corrected in a second version.

If the problem has been identified, and steps taken to eliminate the problem, that's one thing; if it's a new or as-yet unaddressed ongoing problem, that's another and more serious issue.

Reliability is a serious and legitimate concern.

Friend of mine bought a Hellcat, those sights are awesome. Sig should've put those on the 365

Once we get them back from Sig, I will advise what they had to fix.
