Suppressor advice?

Greetings, tax stamp bros.

I'm gearing up for my first can. Maybe my first three. My first purpose is hunting, second is range toy, and third is on the AR-15 for home defense. So it's going to live on that AR, then swap over to my .308 bolt gun for a few weeks a year. Any recommendations? I'm seeing the Omega 300 as a good option, but I don't know much about the mounting.

So, what's the best way to buy for a guy in southern Maryland? Silencer shop? Drive around and hopefully a shop has something in stock?

Silencer shop is the easiest, possibly cheapest since there are no additional transfer fees, and likely fastest as it sort of skips the first transfer to your dealer.

Only you can determine what features are right for you. Most suppressors are fairly close in performance now. The only new technology is the 'flow through' that OSS pioneered but others are doing somewhat too. Thats not important on a bolt gun but an AR can really benefit from the technology. A 308 can to cover hunting and an AR is a reasonable idea.

Everyone needs a 22LR can. It really benefits from suppressors and it just a hoot to shoot.

If I could only have 3 cans it would be a 308 flow through, a 22LR, and a 45 ACP (can also use on 9mm).

Paladin 300 is a nice can. It evens quiets down my super .223 rounds quite a bit and is rated for full auto.

The Omega is a great can but frankly, there's a ton of great quality suppressors in the market today.

I think you have it right. .30 cal can (308/223), .45 cal (.45/9mm), and a .22 will cover pretty much everything you'll need for rimfire. Then you can just swap them out.

Most of the calibers you will shoot in .30 will have the same thread pitch so that should be easy mounting wise. The pistol will be a little different but you'll probably only want to shoot .45 and 9mm anyway. .22 cans are awesome but get dirty really fast. I'd skip a designated 5.56 and just go with the .30 as you can always shoot smaller calibers and the noise difference will be negligible.

If you are talking about a can for multiple hosts, you need to consider the mounting options and costs. It's kind of like buying into a lens system for cameras.
Mounts can run upwards of $100+ each. For the handguns, except 22, you will need a piston threaded in each caliber. 45 and 9 have different thread pitches.
So the moral of the story is research before you buy one can for different caliber and find out who you will need. Make sure the mounts are available too. Even though it might take a year to get the can in hand, buy the mounts ASAP.

If you get a 22LR can, keep in mind if you want to shoot magnum (22 or 17) you'll not want an all aluminum can as they are not rated for magnum. The all aluminum can is lighter though (by about half) and and nice for a handgun, IMHO. Many don't like an all aluminum can becuase thay are more difficult to clean.

I have an Omega 300 and love it. It goes back and forth between my .308 RPR or any of my ARs. I'm sure there are better cans out there but I've had it for about 5 years now.

I have a deadair sandman L. I really like the keymo mounting system. I used Gun Monkey in Laplata for the transfer. They have a kiosk in store. The next one I buy will likely be a HuxWurx, or Griffin Armament Paladin. I need a low back pressure or flow through can for an AR-10. The Sandman is hella quite with 300 blackout subs. It sounds like a staple gun.

I have a Giffin Paladin 300 which I use for 300BO and .223. It is built like a tank and is very quiet even with supers.

In love with my CGS Hydra SS rimfire can. Titanium tube with stainless steel baffles so full auto/magnum rated. As a range toy can it's simply awesome on an assortment of hosts. My current favorite is my SIG P322 with a Holosun RDS.

I'm dedicated to asr mounts.
Silencerco chimera- 30 cal no barrel length restrictions
Octane 45- pistols and 300aac subs
Sparrow 22- does 17 and 5.7

Those 3 hit most of my stuff. I'd like a big bore for 45 70 and 458. After that a 30 cal flow through to make it easy to run on oddball stuff, ak, m1a, ect.

For that 30 cal see what calibers you really want to hunt with and see what works for you. I wanted a tough, melt it down give it the beans kind of can to start with to be on all my ars and such. It still does awesome on the bolt guns. But if I wasn't worried about that first part I'd probably have gotten the hybrid or omega 46 or whatever the universal big bore is.
