Ask how many here have had to have a bore lock in the last 4 months or so.

I believe there was only 1 or 2 locks allowed, (the bore lock type) but the manufacturer had an issue and supply went to nil. I believe it was the handgun review board that got other more standard style locks to be accepted, but I am not sure about that.

I'm not sure either and the ffl will coerce me into buying their overpriced bore locks for their profit!

I've bought 3 new handguns since last November and nobody ever mentioned a lock. There used to be an old thread here where members would lend/ borrow those cable locks as needed. Haven't heard anybody talk about the in a long time.

This for sure. I bought a Glock earlier this year and just picked up my new Sig last week and neither came with any type of lock. Two different FFLs, both really large dealers, and wasn’t a deal at all.

The FFL that I bought the Sig from had provided one on a handgun I purchased back in 2016, but don’t seem to be worrying about it now.

I believe that within the last year or so MSP said it didn't have to be a bore lock anymore and that a cable lock would suffice. I didn't need a bore lock for my last handgun purchase in Dec 2021

to the OP if you have one in the caliber you are getting take it with you just in case. My Sig P320 M17 shop I bought it from said it has a pad lock you are good to go. But in MD and local gun shops you never know.
