My friend last week went for his LEOSA qualification, he texted me the following: The MD Police and Corrections Officers Firearms Training for the FIRST TIME referenced the procedure to extract a round that is preventing the slide from opening an “inertia strike”. Their method is multiple swipes vs the one hard motion you demonstrated years ago.

I was taught to grasp the rear of the slide and with the dominant hand using the web area strongly strike the frame and presto the round will eject.

Two weeks ago friend was using NEW ammo manufactured in Türkiye by Ozkursan.com.tr in his Springfield 1911 resulting in the slide not opening, they ran without any issue in his Gen 4 Glock 19.

Sounds like the rounds are very slightly oversized. Or the chamber on the Springfield is slightly undersized.

Or the bullet base has just started touching the throat/rifling and sticking.

My .45acp handholds function 100% of the time in my 1911. But hang up a lot in my Ruger PX4 Storm pistol. The dies can only squeeze a round so much. Me thinks the Storm has too tight of a chamber.

Mark up a bunch of rounds with black Sharpie. Chamber them. Extract. And examine the bullet bases/mouth of the brass cases. Any rifling marks or rings that would indicate bullet/chamber interference?

Also, .45acp headspaces off the case mouth. If the case is too long, it will bind up in the throat/rifling area. Causing sticking.

One of the good things about a micro red dot, you can basically rack that beyotch off of anything with a good amount of force to pop open the slide.

    Was this steel cased ammo?

Typically the cause is a shallow barrel rifle leade (throat) or bullets with a forward set ogive. Sometimes chasing the barrel with a finish reamer to correct depth will fix it. Sometimes it requires. throating reamer.
