Not bad if you really want to stick to OEM. But you can get a zev optics slide for under $300 then another $150 for completion it if you dont want to just swap internals.

But it won't be compensated. That's the selling point to this slide. The built in compensator makes the p365 a smoother shooting gun. And the bare Zev slides for the P365XL are running about $440 without internals or sights

I have a mini comp from Griffin that works great and doesn't eat up your wallet. And why suppressor sights? Not many folks are going to carry a suppressor with their EDC pistol.

Never owned a compensated gun. Sig says this doesn’t work with ported barrels. How does compensating work without a ported barrel?

Yeah. Ported vents before the end of the barrel (inch or so?) and comps vent past the end of the barrel.
The minutiae is where the venting occurs.

Porting - you may have some spalling from the round scraping against the port cuts and COULD hit you in the face if you shoot from retention. And it typically vents upwards and out to the side, left and right. Like a V from the barrel. The slide has to be specifically cut at the ports for proper venting.

Comps - they can make them blow any direction they desire. Typically with these SIG comps, they bevel the venting forward/away from the shooter.

Ported barrels don't mix with compensators. I've never fired a ported barrel with a non vented or comped slide and don't think that I'd want to find out why.

What is unique with its one is that it is machined into the slide, not threaded to the barrel. The weight of a comp can cause issues with cycling, and they all hold the slide locked a little longer than a bare muzzle. In a defensive pistol you can have failures if the comp unseats from the barrel also. This design eliminates most of that, and being the muzzle is actually the slide, and has to clear the OD of the barrel, it is a larger diameter than a threaded comp. Probably not unlike the old 1911 barrel bushing comps, a little less efficient, didn't mess with barrel timing as much, less aggressive blast to the top/side.

I want one, but still on the fence to build a new P365, buy a 3rd P365 in the $1K+ Spectre flavor, or slap that slide on my 3.1" P365.
