If it's in the wrong category. My bad guys, first post since joining. I also attempted to search for my answer, but that didn't work out so good.

I'll keep it short. Got a trip out of state, found some mags for a good price, they were used but in good condition. Can I mail them to myself, since I (maybe) technically took possession out of state? Or just stick them in checked luggage. Usually when I go places I drive, so this is new for me. No ammo or anything, just the magazines.

    Thanks!

You mean they’re mags you took out of state with you and are now returning?

To avoid involving the USPS and a chance of Maryland being Maryland (officious, maladapted leadership, police who “know their moral compass”), just put ‘em in checked luggage.

I’d think there’s less likelihood of “accidental” opening than US mail.

    You should do a poll.

You can transport it yourself but not mail it to yourself IIRC. With Maryland laws there is language about you can not receive which probably includes stuff mailed to you (even if from you).

Went to Oaks Show this weekend and somehow 3-21 Round Sig mags, 1 Magpul D60, and 3-Hexmag 30s ended up in my trunk when I got home....

Dumb law since techinically you are taking (re)possession in the state

I’ve treated them like complete firearms before and put them in a locked container in checked luggage and let the Delta baggage staff know they were there. They felt it was probably unnecessary to go to that length but understood my caution.
