I'm sure my experience is an outlier, but I bought a used EZ. Tried different ammo brands and weights, and couldn't get one single mag to run without a failure to feed or sometimes to go into battery. One of the guys I shoot with also had one that he sent back to the factory... twice... had a local gunsmith work on it, and it still wasn't reliable for the same reasons. We both sold ours. My suggestion is to buy a new one (definitely NOT a used one 'cause you might get one of our lemons), or better yet, get the new Equalizer. Just my .02

    1911 only.
The S&W EZ grip safety is hinged opposite as the 1911 (if memory serves me right)
The 1911 is hinged at the top,, while the EZ is hinged at the bottom.

The EZ grip safety is NOT an issue,,, until it is an issue.
I am thankful my wife discovered it while doing speed/panic drills,, and not at 2:00AM with an intruder charging her.
Normal, everyday range shooting is not an issue with the EZ, and rarely with the speed drill, but it did happen more than once.

    Hogue rubber grip sleeve?
I'd figured fabric tape would solve it, but allegedly (internet forum information) since it's hammer fired it ain't drop safe if you tape the safety down.
