    having been put into tough situations so that you can know yourself and how you react is important in that respect.

    My personal experience is that adrenaline surge puts me into some sort of auto pilot and whatever I've practiced/trained/etc is performed before I can consciously think about it.
    Might sound neat to some, but I consider it more of a liability and work to prevent my brain from triggering that adrenaline surge at all.

    I also find activities that get adrenaline pumping and work to stay clear and focused during those times. A lot of those activities can be fun at the same time, downhill mountain biking, rock climbing, paintball. they all help train the brain to make fast decisive choices while under "stress" and usually with a lot of adrenaline pumping.
