Scope Ring size for 40mm Nikon Prostaff on a 10/22 ?

I have a 18.5 carbine barrel and am keeping the iron sights installed.
I will be mounting an incoming 40mm Prostaff on the std Ruger scope mount.

Do I need medium or high rings to still clear the sights?

You will be fine with Med. rings on your 10/22. That is what I chose and zero issues.

Med. rings should be fine for up to 42mm.
