    Here's the sequence :

    ATF standards are clear

As part of ATF approvals , they ensure the items also meet respective State Laws

ATF's source for interpretation of State Law is MSP LD

MSP LD is not shy about asserting the maximum possible restrictive interpretation of State Law to the ATF

MSP LD has never objected to ATF about measurement of SBR OAL since it became an issue in 2013 .

The page I got the AF letter from was about braces.

It seems that since a brace is not a stock, for measuring OAL for a vertical foregrip, the brace must be COLLAPSED.

So this might be confusing some people.

Your OOL is 29 inches from end of barrel to the longest part or edge of the stock extended. If your end to end measurement is shorter than 29 inches, you will need to add a barrel attachment permanently to achieve the 29 inch minimum. If your dealing with a misinformed dealer who has a 03 License/Sot....then you should find someone else. Probably a case of misunderstanding or a need for a hearing aid by your dealer.
