Saw this yesterday and thought we should have a reminder about always being as safe as possible.

Sad the dog got killed, but could have been much worse.

This is so senseless and sad. Now we have a very angry family because one family member was killed and others were put in danger by careless and reckless behavior. God help the shooting community if the victims are non gun people because that poor dog would become a martyr to their cause.

In this case, "Know if you bullets are impacting short of the target".
Well, the way it's written he 'MAY' have hit the target (not shot in front) but the bullets were ricocheting off the 'berm' (e.g. the flat ground behind the target). Surprised he didn't hear the ricochet and stop (well maybe not).
Sounds like too congested of an area to be shooting anyway.

Sounds like shooting with no backstop. 10 counts of reckless endangerment should rain on his parade big time. I suspect there will be a civil suit to follow.

I wish I were that dog

I hope you're kidding brother. If not, I can probably make you laugh and at least get your mind of things for a bit. I'm no Psychologist, but I can listen and make terrible suggestions for advice.

This is a really unfortunate accident. I didn't catch how old the shooter was but I would be willing to bet he was young with the lack of experience . I know of a few young men we kinda took under our wing that live around the shop that want to shoot/ hunt but have know one to teach them . A accident waiting to happen .But the parents are all for it. I'm not suprised that this has not happened sooner since rifles can be used for hunting in Caroline county and alot of these unseasoned hunters are left on their own.
