You have a lot of choices with a 10-22. Go to rimfire central and start reading. Take your time choosing modifications.

Well there is one modification that in my view is a no brainer for every 10-22 owner. Buy a non metal bolt stop buffer and install it as soon as possible.

I am new to guns, so I don't exactly know what a non metal bolt stop buffer is. What is the benefit of it?

When you buy more magazines, get the clear ones. With the solid black opaque mags, you cannot tell if the magazine is loaded with one round or ten. Get the clear mags!

Some people said that they don't work as well as the ruger bx-25 (all black mags).

I got some recently, but I haven't tried them yet.

I hope that's not true. I don't know why it would be.

The BX 25 is the Ruger 25rd mag. I think he's talking about the Butler Creek 25 rounders. The Butler Creeks are known to have feed issues.

I also prefer the clear 10rd RUGER mags. I have never had a problem with them. They are the same as the black 10 rounders.

The clear mags are made from a thinner material I believe. I've always used the bx-25 mags. Can't go wrong with a Ruger product used in a Ruger product.

    Just my opinion,

Here is a discussion on the bolt stop buffer at RFC. If you read it you should have a pretty good understanding on why people switch out the factory buffer for an after market one:

Here are two vendors who sell bolt stop buffers. Both vendors are considered reputable on RFC.
