Just picked two up today...one was expected and one was a surprise find.

I found one of the new Colt King Cobra Target .22 revolvers for MSRP...was on the notify list at Brownell's. As soon as I found out some came in I ordered it...musta been the last one as it showed out of stock right after. Seems to be an awesome .22...I've thought for a long time Colt needed to get back into the rimfire market and they seem to have come up with a winner...stainless steel...4.25" barrel (with a 6" soon to be produced) and a 10-shot capacity. I'm not fond of the grips and the fiber optic front sight...will probably change them out.

The real surprise was when I went into the gun store to complete the transfer...great here in AZ...fill out the 4473, NICS check and walk out the door...I saw from a distance in their used case and saw a Colt revolver...I figured it to be a first gen Trooper but when I got close I saw it was a Three-Fifty-Seven model! There were Colt's top of the line double action revolver prior to the introduction of the Python. Once the Python was in production the Three-Fifty-Seven was kind of lost in the mix and lingered on for a few more years. It was actually a favorite of Bill Jordan even though he usually carried a S&W.

I looked the piece over...not perfect but very good plus condition and the asking price was reasonable. I decided to go for it and the filling out the 4473 the sales guy brings out the original box and paperwork for the Colt! A reasonable deal suddenly became a great deal! I already have several of these revolvers and didn't really need another but I needed to be good to myself! :D

The Three-Fifty-Seven has long been an open secret amongst Colt collectors and only within the last few years has it begun to get noticed by others.

Revolver Family Photo I got the other day

    2017 S&W 686+ in .357
Early 90's Colt Anaconda in .44 Mag
1970 Colt Detective Special in .38
That Detective Special is beautiful, man. I'd still rather carry one of those than ANY micro-9mm semi-auto.

I miss my old GP100, since I foolishly sold it 10 years ago. I found this gently used 7 shot and couldn’t pass it up.

I went for the first time to the Crossroads of the West Gun Show held at the AZ State Fairgrounds yesterday in Phoenix...what an experience! I would estimate this gun show as at least the Chantilly gun show X3...at least. The main building was larger than the Expo Center in Chantilly plus three more buildings nearly as large...plus four super sized tent canopies full of vendors plus many individual tents with vendors. It seems there were more guns there for sale than there are guns total in the state of Maryland! It was incredible! Many people were walking around pulling carts loaded with firearms to sell or for what they were buying. It was expensive to attend...$10 to park plus $20 admission but worth it.

In one building I saw a familiar sign...Dennis A. Todd from PA. I asked them why they were so far from home and was told they've been doing this show for over twenty years. It certainly must be worth it for them to haul their inventory across country for it.

Back to revolver porn...I found this Colt 3-5-7 revolver...nickel plated which is very rare. It has someone's initials engraved or roll marked on one side...whose the seller didn't know. His asking price was very reasonable and I made a counter-offer which he accepted...bonus! I'm going to order an Archives letter from Colt to verify it's factory nickel and maybe shed some light on who the initials are for. Even if it turns out to be non-factory nickel I won't get hurt as I paid a more than reasonable price for it.

Pardon the holes in the workbench...plus having taken the opportunity to clean the gun up. Another bonus...here in AZ it's cash and carry face-to-face between individuals and with a licensed dealer just fill out the 4473...NICS check and you're good to go. This was a private sale.

I haven't even tried to clean it up yet. While that revolver has use...back in the day both Colt and S&W could put magnificent nickel plating on their guns. They each were capable of magnificent bluing but that was often dependent on what model gun and how much attention it received.

I'd been watching for an affordable 3 5 7 for a while, but the prices just kept rising. My interest was based on the fact that I couldn't afford a Python, and the 3 5 7 was basically the first iteration of the Python internals.

Now that I have a New Python, I'm out of the market for the other one. Unless I stumble on a really clean one for a really reasonable price. But the safe is already packed full . . . its' gotta stop somewhere.

But yeah, really nice gun, Bob.

    You're killing me, man.

Christmas, end of fiscal year, and my credit card was just hacked, has been cancelled, and the replacement card won't arrive for several days.

Sometimes a Higher Power has to step in to save us from ourselves.
