I've been told RAW/John Thomas was the bees knees for retro AR work. Finally had a need for his services.
11.5" Brownells 1:12 barrel. I needed the overlength muzzle device pinned and welded. Device also wouldn't bottom out on the crown due to the muzzle threads not being cut all the way to the shoulder.
Contacted John for a price. Months later got around to sending. He received, worked, and mailed back the barrel in the same day. The weld is absolutely invisible.
Guess the rumors were true.
