I recent picked up a nice Remington Model 30 Express in .30-06 that wears a Lyman 48S receiver sight. The rifle seems to be original (except maybe for the sight(?), but the sheer number of proof marks on the right side of the barrel have me puzzled. There aren’t any on the left as it’s marked “Springfield. .30 Cal. 1906.”

Which is the “BLACKPOWDERX” date code, and what are the others? Is there a good guide to show what these may mean? Google really didn’t return a whole lot.
