Editorial: Parson’s signature on gun bill violates US Constitution, makes Missourians less safe

The Kansas City Star Editorial Board: Parson’s signature on this gun bill violates the US Constitution

Me: How does it violate the US Constitution?

KCSEB: By declaring Federal laws invalid!

Me: Wait, doesn't their declaration state “All federal acts, laws, executive orders, administrative orders, rules, and regulations, that infringe on the people’s right to keep and bear arms … shall be invalid to this state"?

KCSEB: Yes. Missouri cannot enjoy the protections of representative government when it routinely discards the Constitution on a whim.

Me: Seems they're saying "laws that violate the US Constitution are invalid." Isn't that what a State is supposed to do?

KCSEB: The idea that a state legislature can nullify a federal law is abhorrent. Doing so supports slavery.

Me: Wait ... again ... they're violating the US Constitution by explicitly supporting it?

KCSEB: Why are you such a racist?

*****The men who wrote the constitution were some of the finest minds of their (or any) day. I'm amazed at how succinct and well written the Constitution is along with documents like the Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers and other such writings of their day. Remarkably well thought out, and in the Federalist papers one can clearly see the thinking Jay, Hamilton and Madison had on a variety of issues of their day.

Just for the sake of argument, if there *was* something in the Constitution about wizzing or hookers - I kind of wonder how nicely it would have been written to withstand the test of time by the men who wrote our founding documents... Maybe wizzing and hookers wouldn't have been in the Bill of Rights, but how cool if it had been codified into some kind of short addendum on wizzocity and/or hookerocity (if only those were commonly used words!!!) with respect to our nation and the rights of men and prostitutes. I'm thinking if those two things HAD been in the Constitution we wouldn't have some of the horrible problems we have today!!!

Incontinence and hookers would no longer be seen as bad things but as rights we have as men of the greatest nation on Earth!!!

    Or sumthin'

Surprised there isn't something in the constitution about those things. John Adams was a fan of boning outdoors while wrapped in furs and Ben Franklin was basically a man-whore.

The Missouri Supreme Court this week reversed a decision by 19th Circuit Court Judge Dan Green, who refused to stop the enforcement of Missouri's "Second Amendment Preservation Act," which punishes Missouri law enforcement agencies for enforcing federal gun laws.

Just do what the child sniffer does and ignore the courts and continue punishing them for working with the fed. I mean the racist one gets away with it so they should be able to as well

Sorry if one side decided its OK to ignore some federal laws they really can't get mad when the other side follows suit.

There are many jurisdictions that don't enforce federal gun laws as practice, not statute.

No local/state gov should enforce any federal gun law. That's the fed's job. Esp if that jurisdiction refuses to detain an illegal alien on an ICE detainer request because "immigration is a federal matter."
