Just a maintenance fixture, Tipton gun-vise works well - not recommended to be used as a rest, but I've heard of it being done in the past.

The MTM unit is inexpensive and has a nice deep tub to contain spills and dirty patches/rags.
All of the Tiptons are good units.
Pair one of those with a small vise for more aggressive work and building.

Don't shoot off of your cleaning station and don't do exstensive cleaning or maintenance on your rest.

I use a Caldwell Lead Sled as rest for sighting in rifles. I suppose it could do double duty for cleaning and maintenance if it needed to, but I agree with Col. Hurtz.
