So while out and about at some rummage sales this weekend, I came across this....

I know what you are thinking, bubba sawed off a .22 and put on a mossberg pistol grip. I thought so too, and the barrel and OAL looked pretty short and I don't want any NFA problems, so I left it. While driving away, and using my hands for measuring, I realized I might be making a mistake, so I returned and bought it for 80.00 with no magazine and a loose scope.

While researching the rifle, I found this.

It was stamped US Arms Div AEG Inc. and PMA-1P. Apparently, mossberg got a rebellious side at one point and made a so-called "Assault" .22lr. The barrel is exactly 16 inches and the OAL is exactly 26 inches (good thing the FSA OAL does not apply to rimfire). US Arms / Mossberg put on the 500 PG from the factory believe it or not, and while it was supposedly sold between 79 to 84, I've never seen one.

Has anyone seen these things before? Are they rare? Any Idea of the value?

I've sourced out some 10 round mags, and I want to make it into an underfolder, but I don't want to destroy anything that has significant collector value.

    Nice find.

    Google to the rescue...

Check out this link... for $11.85 you can buy a replacement stock for it and mod it to your heart's content without making any irreversible changes to the gun.

I've also only seen auctions for the PMA-1 and the value was relatively low (150-175) if that's the case, it's no biggie to install an AK underfolder stock, but I don't want to devalue it if it has more value than that. Considering a Mossberg 500 side folder stock, but those are getting harder to find in the way I want them (not that whacky looking choate one or the expensive butler creek.

That is really cool. I haven't seen one of those. It's always fun for me to see the unusual things companies come up with in the old days.

Threeband, you shouldn't be, it's not a pistol, it has all the dimensional requirements of a rifle and is as the factory sold them.

Short-barreled rifles (SBRs)—this category includes any firearm with a buttstock and either a rifled barrel less than 16" long or an overall length under 26". The overall length is measured with any folding or collapsing stocks in the extended position. The category also includes firearms which came from the factory with a buttstock that was later removed by a third party.
