Toolness, it is a 10 round magazine. Those are pretty easy to find.

Oh, ok. I know my dad has a 5 rounder but he can't remember where he got it.

Those snow pics are awesome, love the dedication!

The ranges I shoot at are VERY basic, just public conservation ranges with bare bones

My dad belongs to a private range down in southwest MO, they have a enclosed area for shooting in the bad weather. There's a big wood stove and a massive pile of wood, and you can drive out to the backdrops to change targets. That's the way to go!

Dude, that's awesome! My wife and I are getting more serious about Utah. Want to plan a trip out there this year to check it out. We should check out AZ also.

Don't bring the wife before September. The heat will be a deal breaker. Hahahaha. The payoff is 8-9 months of 75 and sunny.

Again not C&R although I did shoot a Garand about 10 minutes after this pic was taken.

Awesome pics! I'm loving this thread.

I went down to SouthWest Missouri where I'm actually from, and visited my parents. I always load the car full of guns and go to the range every day with my dad. This time we shot some stuff I've never gotten the chance to shoot before.

Unfortunately, there are a couple sporterized rifles here, one which is a semi-rare piece and may bring some tears. My Grandpa was stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Ground before he was shipped off to Europe during WWII, I guess that's where he trained on working on all the weapons (he worked on small arms for the army during the war)

Anyways, some of the stuff he brought back was actually FROM Germany when he came back form the war. Some stuff came from Aberdeen Proving Grounds. The story we got, and there's not a lot of details since Grandpa is no longer with us, but he told my dad that back in '42 or so when he was stationed at the Proving Grounds, they would bring in big lots of firearms from the different fronts in the war going on at the time. Not sure why, maybe just to train on working on them, testing, working on improvements to our firearms, I dunno. But, he used to be assigned to go through these piles of US, German, British, etc firearms and be sure they were all unloaded and safe. They would pick out good parts and make Frankenstein rifles out of the best parts they could get (a lot of the stuff was beat up, damaged, etc, although there were some complete, matching examples that were nice too)

So, he ended up bringing some stuff home, and that's where this G33/40 and the 1903 A3 came from that he later sporterized for himself. My cousins both got a unaltered 1903A3, and I will be contacting them to see if either of them will sell me one. Neither of them shoot.... My dad got a majority of the stuff he brought back, but there's some stuff out there we are going to try to track down, because it's all in the hands of people who don't appreciate it and we want to rescue some if we can!

So, that's the story on these... Unfortunate on the 33/40 for sure that it was sporterized, but the way my dad puts it "It's special to me because it was my Dad's hunting rifle, my eyes aren't so good so I like having the scope on it, and it's much more useful to me with the current configuration and I would NEVER sell it anyways" So, I see his point, but there's still the destroyed history aspect that can't be overlooked. But, it's a REALLY neat and accurate rifle and I am glad we have it for sure.

My dad cast some 175gr GC bullets out of straight wheel weights, and loaded up some 8mm with 2400 powder, 18 grains, at 2.85''. We tested all the way up to 21gr but 18 was the best, and felt about like a .22. It shot AMAZING in the G33/40

Not sure why my dad likes to shoot with the lens protector flaps down...

Here's how the same cast load did in my K98, open sights, from 50 yards.

Here is a 1903 A3 Springfield that my Grandpa also sporterized and put a Lyman sight on. It shoots great too, even though one year he shot a corrosive surplus tracer round up over the mountain at deer camp to show my dad when he was a kid, and didn't clean it after. It sat for almost 8 years after that and the barrel looked AWFUL when my dad finally checked on it. He got it cleaned up pretty good, and the pitting doesn't seem to harm accuracy for our needs, anyways.

Under the Springfield is the M1 Carbine my Grandpa was issued and carried in Germany during WWII.

Here's a group I shot at 50 yards with my Mosin with the scout scope. That's 25 rounds of silver tip light ball.

Don't worry, nothing is permanent. I just removed the rear sight (came right off, quite easily actually) and mounted straight to the dovetail. Used blue Loctite, and it's held for well over 3 years, and about 400 rounds.

Not too bad for a cheap NcStar 2-7 scope and surplus ammo!

I had a great trip to the range with some C$R rifles this afternoon and also to try out some recent purchases. All of these are at 100 yards.

First off one of my 91/30's.

One of my K31's (Yellowsled may recognize this one.) This is also one of my favorite paper punchers.

I added my second M1 carbine ('44 Inland) to my collection this weekend and I'm very happy with its performance.

And finally I went into see Lou to look at his Nah Meel G-locks to give them another shot. I ended up not getting a plastic pistol but came home with a Chinese police marked SKS. My first spike sks (technically not C$R.)

A great day at the range today :party29:

Very Nice! If I knew that K31 shot that well, I might not have sold it. :D
