Range in Carroll Country

Does any know of a good rifle range in the Carroll county area that lets you stand while shooting? I go to Hap Baker for pistols, It doesn't feel right to shoot from a bench.

I think you'll have to suck it up and join the AGC.
I mostly shoot positions there, prone, sitting and offhand. I agree with you: the bench is a trap.

You can shoot standing, prone, and sitting at Hap. Just ask the RSO beforehand.

Oh, they never let me and i have never seen anyone shooting standing. Is there a special code word or something to have the privilege?

Yeah just say "Hey Mr. (insert RSO's name here) do you mind if I shoot offhand?". Await response and comply.

I would like to know also , The road to get back to hap , well you need a 10 by 10 to get back there ...lol

Last time I was there, the RO said just make sure it's OK with the person shooting in the lane next to you. But yeah, still ask the RO first.

I have seen guys shoot offhand at Hap.

Unless you shoot alot AGC is exspensive. $150 for your range badge and whatever it cost to join one of the clubs.

Some of the private clubs in Carroll cost half that. And as in Dug Hill the club I belong too.

Some ranges require the targets to be at a level so the bullets do not strike the ground potentially skipping over the berm so standing/prone shots require careful preparation.

I was just there yesterday (June 20th) and the RSO said that you CAN shoot standing up on the rifle range, just don't cross the red line.
