I recently picked up a new h001t and after giving it a cleaning I attempted to run some snap caps through it. I put six caps into the magazine tube and upon replacing the inner magazine tube it gave me some resistance. I got the IMT to seat but now it appears three of my snap caps are stuck within the tube and will not feed. Any insight why this would happen and how I can get them out? I wonder if it has to do with the rim of the snap caps being deformed from use and that is getting it stuck.

    Thanks in advance

Edit: got the snap caps out but I'm still wondering what made them get stuck.

That's an interesting problem! Can you judge how firmly they are stuck? Is there any wiggle room or are they wedged in there good and tight?

I wonder about rapping the tube on something solid, or centripetal force, or a tiny pick.

Take the other end of the tube cap off, watch your eyes, removing the spring carefully and then gently drive them out.
I'm not sure about Henry's but the end of that mag tube loks a little buggered on one side?
Maybe the prior owner if thats the case, had a similar problem.
Check the components on the other end to see if they have been worked on before maybe.

The plastic snap caps are really there to protect you from having a chamber strike if you drop the hammer. They are not meant to be snap caps like the centerfire version. As you mentioned, the rim gets all deformed when struck with the firing pin causing the cap to jam in the action.

Plus, if the blue ones pictured are like the blue ones I have, they are aluminum dummy rounds for feed testing and not true snap caps for dry firing.

The pic certainly looks like the two impact bumps are pushing the round against the side of the tube.

I have had Henrys for 40 years your only the second person who used snap caps that got stuck. A guy about 10 years ago did the exact same thing. I ended up breaking sown the rifle and using a wooden dowel to knock them out from the breach end. Henry has on line videos showing you how to break down the rifle.

    Lessons learned.

I make dummy rounds and used hotment glue in the primer pocket, has never failed me yet

Err, that works with centerfire but unfortunately, not with rimfires. It is how I make my dummies as well. ;)

I think everything is already covered so I'll say, ENJOY THE HENRY!
I have filed my metal snap caps down to use them again.
Last few gun shows I went to, the 22 plastic snap caps were all out of stock when I was looking.
I still like shooting mine and I think the simple sights on the lever is great. Easy to see and align for me.

I shoot mine once in a while at our monthly .22 steel matches. I can't finish close to the times the young guys shoot so I just bring along either my Henry SGR carbine or Rossi 62 and have fun. :party29:

As long as you single-feed them, I found they will work in most .22s.

The only place they tend to malfunction are in tubular magazines, and even then its not all of them.

That said, they are excellent as snap caps; and are inexpensive enough to replace regularly.
That's a pretty neat idea. I can see how they may not like being compressed in a tubular magazine. I wonder if gluing the seams together might help.

Thanks everyone who replied for all the feedback, I learned a lot in this thread.

So far I've taken it to the range twice and had great fun and success, it's quickly becoming my favorite rifle(after my marlin 336 of course).
