That’s the stupid egos of the paying customers. I would rather have an instructor take an off the shelf $500 plastic gun with cheap ammo from the student and hit the bull eye 10x with an inch grouping at 25 yards, then an instructor that wants to make me inclusive. I would be wowed by his skills that I would recommend his class to everyone I know. And would just be captivated and learn his teaching as gold
I know people in the music field that always use a student’s “cheap junk” during lessons and sound great on them.

As opposed to bringing their pro stuff in and the student thinking they don’t sound good because the instructor has a 10k instrument.

Oh, no it is not a viola.

Nothing is gonna make that sound good! :D

If you're really good at what ever it is you need to back off the pace and just do it correctly at the level you are hoping for them to perform.
Yes , this ! A proper Exemplar for the students to mentally model is a Good Thing , and a benefit .

    Well , to date myself , it was a tuned M19 .

And the students were paid to be there .

There are many parallels in learning music and learning firearms.

    I dunno .

If that were so , I'd play Music a Lot better .

    Added :

Since we're talking price comparisons :

Compared to my in progress pistol purchase ( stand by until pickup , and initial range report , but for those who know me , it will be shocking )

Most recent Pre War Dobro , and most recent Vintage Lap Steel we're each just under twice as much .

Most recent beater Resonator , just over half as much .

Both categories now subject to wife ly hairy eyeballing. Pistols smaller to hide , but instruments all look similar when inside their cases .

Enjoyment can't be directly compared . Shooting is mostly inner driven , playing is collaborative, and more social.

Yep..got it from "Lou" long ago, fits good, shoots good, hides good.
    got a 220 45acp also..

I really wanted to like the P 250 , and almost did . Buy that's me with a Revolver background . Most " normal " shooters couldn't see the appeal, and they didn't stick around long.

    The P220 .45 is sweet .

Really like the 220, Gun Shop down here had one used, excellent condition, great price. The first purchase
in SC. "Cash n Carry" 15 mins. online paperwork, approved, and done. (paper or plastic bag or box)
sometimes have the Mdl 19 2.5" in an ankle holster, like revolvers also 3 screw Blackhawks, Mdl 29's, Mdl 25's.

When I do youth and scout range sessions, I rarely, if ever. shoot. This is the kids time. If I have a kid who keeps complaining and whining that the rifle must be broken cause I cant hit the paper, I will check it with 2 rounds. 99 times out of 100, the kid is not taking instruction.
I did have one kid that I could not get her on paper. I switched instructors. He could not either. We took her to the 10 yard range and she was grouping. I checked her original rifle and couldn't hit squat. Turns out the sights were just loose enough that made it off. I made a point of telling her (and her mom) it was the rifle and not her.

I think one difference between music and shooting is people wanting to learn music will quickly seek out instruction. Where as gun people (especially men) in many cased don't think they need anyone to teach them. They also seem to think they should be good at it with out really practicing.

Guy tend to always think we're good at three things, Driving cars, shooting guns and .....huh well you can guess the 3rd. We're likely wrong about all three.

Shitty trigger tho. We tested the 250 for the FAM service and it was a hard no from us. We stuck with our 229 instead.
The 229 is nice. Shoots good, handles good. Triggers...could be ( just me saying. ) shot alot of different handguns, nothing test wise. There as a few in the collection with great triggers but I wouldn't want to carry them everyday.
