Thinking of buying a Ruger Mini 14 Tactical.

Just curious how they run suppressed.

    Thanks in advance.

Regular minis are seriously over gassed and have a reputation for throwing shells into the next county.

A suppressed mini will throw empties even farther than the bullet will go.

    Do NOT do this.

The mini 14 tends to be overgassed, as alan notes. I will further note that they have an open receiver top. I've never used the mini specifically with a can but the AC556 (full auto mini 14) is pretty gassy unsuppressed. Add a can and you are going to be taking shit to the face. I CAN comment directly on using the M14 with a can on it. It absolutely sucks. A LOT of ejecta right at you.

Depends on the suppressor. I've been told the M1A/M14 is a LOT nicer to shoot w/ an OSS suppressor than w/o one. I've bought the M1A muzzle adapter for mine but haven't tried it yet.

The Mini14/AC556 is probably the same. You can adjust the gas with those little gas port inserts for better unsuppressed cycling. I've been meaning to thread a barrel for one of my AC556s. The one in the Sage chassis would look pretty badass with a short barrel and suppressor.

For semi autos (or full auto) the OSS suppressors are a no-brainer.
