I just paid for the above suppressors. I have never shot, let alone owned a suppressor. I’m just wondering if I’ve made good selections.
The Sparrow is for a Mk IV Ruger lite and a 10/22. The other will be for one of my Glocks and, a yet to be purchased, .300 Blk. upper. I’m mainly looking for opinions based upon experience, as I have none.
I paid $294 for the Sparrow, and $611 for the Obsidian. Prices do not include the tax stamp, or the single shot trusts. Thanks!

I have 2 Sparrows, love them both. There are other cans that have less first round pop but that doesn’t really bother me

The Obsidian 45 is on the large side but I guess that's one reason it's quiet. This is a Glock 21. It has a short configuration as well.

I just picked up the Obsidian 9... whisper quite on my Ruger PCC w/147 grain.

Also slapped it on my TCR22 (10/22 clone) and it was as quiet as my dedicated rimfire can (CGS Hydra SS), albeit heavier.

    You'll be happy with it!

I have a Sparrow but have only shot it on my Savage Mark II bolt action. I can shoot in in a neighborhood full of houses and no one would know as long as you use subsonic ammo. I don't know how it acts on a pistol. At the range, you really don't know a projectile has left the barrel. The click is louder than the bang.

The Obsidian is a great can. I stayed away from the sparrow because of the FRP. It kind of defeats the purpose in my eyes. I have shot NUMEROUS 22 cans as a point of reference.

Good price for good cans. The sparrow really is a solid can, easy to clean being a monocore, and unlike some like the mask, the mount won't unscrew when removing the suppressor from the host. Only issue is the first round pop, pretty much the case with all monocore cans. At the range, doesn't really matter, and a dirty can won't be as noticeable compared to a clean can. If you are shooting something where the FRP matters, a capful or two of water will cut the FRP substantially.

The Obsidian is one of the best pistol cans made. It performs well, and their modular length design is awesome, run it in short config on longer barrels or when you want to shoot a couple rounds without ears. Use the long config to make it quiet. The ONLY issue with Rugged cans doesn't really apply to the rimfire/pistol cans with DT or 3 lug. Rugged uses a proprietary mount on rifle cans that can't be swapped, so stuck with their 2 or 3 muzzle devices and can't use an adapter for 3rd party muzzle devices. The new Alaskan cans are Sico bravo compatible, so not an issue with them.

I have a Rugged Obsidian 9 because I shoot all cast bullets and I needed a good, user serviceable can. This suppressor is well worth the money. I use it mostly on my CMMG Banshee and it is surprisingly quiet with the 1200 FPS loads that I make. I have also used it on my Sig P365 but it is a tad heavy for that platform.

Great picture! Very helpful, as I plan on putting it on my 19

Now that’s what I’m talking about! Backyard plinking. Figures I have thousands of.22 rounds that, most likely, aren’t subsonic

I think you made good choices, but I've been eyeing up a multi cal like the one linked below. That said, I'm extremely hesitant to volunteer my way onto the AFT's list of nfa owners...

$294 for a Sparrow! They used to go for $450. It really is an extremely well made suppressor that will last forever. Nice choices.

    My mistake, $296: https://www.bauer-precision.com/silencerco-sparrow-22-cal-suppressor/
    That's CHEAP!
Yep, $115 less than my other choice, Dead Air Mask

I have a Mask. They are worth it. I also have a Spectre ii. I was concerned about FRP when I bought it, not so much now.

I just did some research and Silencerco stopped making the Spectre ii and Specwar, my two favorite cans. I'm glad I got them.

Mine too. Both were discontinued a while ago. But I think the Spectre came back for a while and then was replaced with the switchback. Both are excellent cans.

I have no opinion on the Obsidian 9, but I do have thoughts on the Sparrow.

The Sparrow is a good can that is really good for the size. Out of my RPR with subs, all you hear is "click..........thwack" when shooting it. With supers out of a Mk IV 22/45 Lite it is about as loud as a CO2 paintball marker, gassed to 300 fps. With supers out of a bolt gun, you hear the supersonic crack more than anything.

Cleaning the Sparrow is easy due to the monocore design. It also breaks down really easily when fouled.
