I went to the gas station today, pulled up to my pump and noticed a gentleman pumping gas that was open carrying. I thought to myself, hell yeah! I’m finally seeing it around my neck of the woods. I noticed that he moved to the other side of the car in between the doors but kept looking at me as if he was awaiting me to call the police about him. Just was weird.

You should have complemented him. That probably would have put him at ease. In other states where open carry isn't so uncommon, it's not odd to complement someone on having excellent taste in firearms. The first time I saw a Smith and Wesson Shield in the wild, I couldn't help but compliment the upstanding American citizen on his impeccable taste. It was in a grocery store, and he was with his son. He said it was a great little gun.
