    .
I've been really good about cleaning my BP replicas until this time. I left a revolver sitting since July 4th. It's been a busy week and it slipped off the to do list. Cleaned it tonight and looked it over with a bright light. Sure enough there is light rusting in the cylinder. oops! Only used 10 grain loads with paper but that and a few days was all it needed. Not too bad but a hard reminder that the BP cleaning regimen really is unforgiving.

A quick but thorough dose of Ballistol or WD-40 can buy a lot of time before a proper cleaning. When I was a reenactor, I'd drown them in WD to be cleaned later....which has been as long as a month with no rust.

    I wouldn't say clean.

I do give them a good rinse after shooting, to help remove the salts that cause corrosion.
