My wife and I will be taking a class to get in line. I believe we have to submit the application in person.

Im aware of the fees. It's $340 for the initial application and almost $100 for the fingerprints at 1PP. I also have to take the NY Training Class.

If they deny me, I wish them luck. I'll sue.

They haven't come up with the official documents yet so the older stuff is still asking for proof or residency and ad social media accounts. The courts put a stop to the social media stuff. They have to redo the online application to remove the residency stuff. It also asks for an MVA/DMV disposition so I'm not sure if they will ask for one from the Non Residents home state.

Are there any NYC concealed carry instructors in or near Maryland? I would be up for joining others for a class

I don't know how they could. Seems to me that's a direct violation of the Bruen ruling. But it is New York, so who knows?

I used to work up there part-time on the weekends. The city used to be fun, but not worth going there to spend a dime on those running the show. If they offered a package deal with the pistol of my choice included, I’d still pass.

Yes. NYC does not recognize NY state permits, unless issued by the 5 boroughs in NYC if I recall correctly.

Interestingly, I haven’t seen where non-residents can get NY state permits. I’m in NY (not the city) a few times a year and a NY permit is on my short list. I talked to a sheriff in an upstate county that I know and he told me NY will allow sheriffs discretion to accept “similar” training from elsewhere. I believe I can use my MD training to get my NY permit from that county (which would be valid in all of NY except NYC), but he very clearly told me that non-residents can’t get permits (unless they own property or work in NY).

The closest I have found so far is in NJ. I'm trying to see if a NY Instructor wants to come to my class and teach.

You have go to to 1 Police Plaza to get your prints done. They also verify documents during your appointment. It requires at least one trip to apply.

Not sure if they mail the completed permit or make you pick it up in person. I won't know until it happens.

My son lives in upstate NY and I go there as much as possible. I also go to ME and the NE area when we vacation or I teach classes. I have to drive through NY/NYC to get up there. A NYC Permit is good for the entire State and NYC so it allows me to stay armed While passing through.

This is the only reason I'd look in to it. If I want to go to New England I may need to pass through NY.
