Blackhawk 3-Screw is on the bucket list. I’d love to Bisley it, lanyard loop it, and octagon barrel it! Now of course that’s the dream. Reality! Lol well, let’s just make it out of this year.
I do however want to grow this Vaquero with me. Send it away for this and that to various places over the years. It would be nice to have a companion piece for my “adult years”.

Pic #4 is interesting. Looks like they added a plunger in order to prevent the transfer bar from binding. I have an original, most likely the first one sold in this state, and the transfer bar would bind. Of course, I fixed that issue right away. While I was at it, I tuned the action, narrowed the front sight and regulated it to shoot to exact point of aim. Later on, I added a set of faux ivory grips with a rattlesnake scrimshawed on them. I think you will really like your purchase. Ivory grips really look good on the blued versions. Look forward to seeing a target or two. Btw, the holy grail of Ruger collector is on GB right now. 3 screw Ruger Blackhawk 4 5/8 barrel .45LC. These were only made for 3 years and rarely come up for sale.

I hope to grow and the gun with me as you describe! Also, of COURSE the rarest model would be the one I’d have the most affinity for. The lines on the 4 5/8’s can’t be beat. Now if I could figure an octagon barrel onto this sucker…haha shoot. Gun hasn’t even been shipped to me yet.
Feller is getting back from traveling for work tomorrow. His hope is to get it to the FFL tomorrow, if not, Thursday is the day!

I have a love for these guns too. Check out mine almost twins. lol...Happened across a New Vaquero at a swell price…now I don’t typically like to do so, but I went ahead and snatched some money out of my savings that I’ll pay back in a couple weeks…
I watched a real nice looking case hardened vaquero go for $750 cash on GB and kicked the dirt.
Then I stumbled across this -
$600 for a really good condition New Vaquero in .45? I felt like I “had” to…
In any event, I have been in good communication with it’s owner in Ohio. We came to an agreement and are going to chat on the phone this afternoon. He likes to talk to the person he is dealing with, as do I, truly! Seems an older feller, nice gentleman.
Sometimes I’m in the right spot at the right time. Hardly often. But this time it lined up!

Haha yessir-ee it’s a phantom of its future self!
Colors didn’t quite match up online and in hand for the belt / holster.
The holster is more of a brown, whereas the belt arrived much darker than anticipated. The bullet loops are a rich burgundy…here take a look at the original holster color -
The ammo loops on the belt are not close to that-
Luckily, being the “proper gent”, I have some burgundy shoe polish!
Here is two layers over four hours -
Now we’re getting somewhere! We cain’t clash the with the Big Iron on the hip…
Now I just need to fill some shells with a couple 255gr Keith bullets for the belt. But what I have is jacketed .45 Colt at the moment!

Looks good to me. I would suspect back in the day a mix match of colors was not uncommon. Due to wear, loss, breakage, repairs, etc.
As for those grips, are they smooth like polished wood or do they have some texture in the pores for a little grip? If that makes sense.
