Need help with a polish/shine question..

i have this single shot break action shotgun where the action and sides are all metal with engraving all over it looks really nice not a fancy gun or anything but i like it alot....- my question- is there anything special i could use to polish/shine this thing give it a real good look? More so anything i should def stay away from to ruin it? Any help would be appreciated thanks...
