    No need for a leveling device. You can use a plumb line or, I like to use the outside corner of a wall. Set your rifle somewhere flat and align the reticle to the vertical line of the wall corner. Easy peasy.

    Thats what I do except I choose something farther away usually outdoors.
    Then, when I fire the rifle, I'll rotate the scope very slightly when obtaining zero.
    Afterwards once ever-things tightened down.
    Ill grasp the scope tube and heft the rifle about.
    I like to be able to use the scope as a grab handle accessory occasionally and not worry about it.
