Got this in a pile of magazines, and not sure what it's for... I have an idea but don't want to bias your opinions :)
The oddball profile of the baseplate and half-circle marks are another clue as is the slot cut in the back for a heel-type release like a FN1900, but not sure what those clues mean. This is "in the white" and doesn't look like it ever had bluing. Note the crude machining and the bottom witness hole is larger than the others. It appears to be setup for 9x23mm Largo/Bergmann, with 8 round capacity. The metal is not hardened and feed lips are noticeably easy to bend.

I'd have ventured Astra 400, but the mag bottom seems backward.

    I'll go with the Campo-Giro.

Most likely comblock from the stamping.

Imma guess Chinese type 54 (tokarev copy) with a filed or poorly welded bottom plate

Mystery solved... Doh, I should have thought of that. We have a winner!
I don't have one (yet) so that's my only lame defense for not recognizing it :)

From Legacy Collectibles website, some clear pics... I guess the one I have, has had the bluing stripped inside and out.

With that in hand, looking it up in Antaris, the magazine with S/N 10696 would have been in a Model 1913-1916. shipped to the Spanish Military Aug 08, 1919...

Good work! I have a Campo Giro holster, between the two of us we're slowly assembling one. Just might take the rest of our lives to get there, one piece at a time ...

    It's a hoot :)
A contemporary (1920's) weird one is the JO.LO.AR., with it's goofy cocking lever, no trigger guard and tip-up barrel.
