Mosin not recocking everytime bolt is pulled back?

I shot my mosin the other day and it kicks like a mule and tons of fun, but sometimes it won't recock the gun everytime the bolt is opened and closed. Any reason why that would happen? Sometimes I have to cock the gun manually by pulling the pin back? Any suggestions?

finger on the trigger/trigger not fully reseting? Weak spring?

Trigger is fully resetting when I pull the bolt forward and back. I'm gonna check the spring tomorrow and see if it's loose or broken or weak.

Check the bolt stop/sear spring. I had to replace one because it was doing the same thing you're reporting. The bolt wouldn't cock. It turns out the "spring" had snapped.

Also, make sure your trigger and sear are not damaged. A rifle that fires when you close the bolt can be very dangerous if you don't expect it and the action isn't fully locked when the cartridge is fired...

I figured it out. It was a loose trigger spring. The screw holding it literally was hanging on a few threads. Tightened up and now it functions perfectly. Amazing how something so small can affect it like that.
